Reaper as VST host

I don't need it on another host, although its nice to know that option is there. I run everything locally on my desktop computer (Windows 10). I currently use this: Music data -> Roon -> VB-Audio HiFi cable -> Reaper -> DAC I use WASAPI exclusive mode, but it also seesm to work in ASIO with the help of ASIO4All In Reaper I added one track, and added the VST plugins as "FX" on master. The track is set to monitor but not record. This seems to work, but I have no idea if this is the best way to do it for sound quality and performance?

Did you try it with VoiceMeeter ASIO

I am a total n00b on Reaper though, so not sure if I have set it up optimally. Currently I have the plugins added as "FX" to master, and one track with monitoring on for "Input: Stereo" but record off. It would feel more neat to get rid of the "dummy" track, but I could not get that to work.

VoiceMeeter will give you 2 ASIO devices like ASIO4All then you can send the output to your hardware device and also have HiFi and VB Cable as extra inputs to VoiceMeeter.
