The best way for you is the platform you are familiar with. Both perform well with DAW apps.

I use both platforms now and the one I like the best is: Both If you can afford a new iMac 1.25 Ghz with the 20" screen then go for it. Not sure I'd be buying the towers anymore for sound issues and space. I just purchased a 20" iMac and I love it. Next purchase will be a 23" Apple Cinema Screen. These screens just rock! On the PC side the E-Machines laptop is my favorite and will run circles around the Macs and most PC desktops when it comes to mixing power. You can drive a 23" screen with the E-Machines graphics card to the highest resolutions too and handles multi-tasking with a breeze including wireless internet built in. If you need portability this is the way to go. Either way you are going to win today. Allen

Hi, saw you asked the same question at the mac forum....hmm Got both an Allenstein machine (thanks Allen:) )and recently a G5 dual 2. Differences in PTLE... the control/apple/alt keys are placed different No right button mouseclick to override groups on Mac. Allens machine might be more powerful in PTLE, but that could change.... doesnt really matter, there are juice enough (G5 twice as powerful in Logic and version 6, thats why I got one). There might be some differences with latency..? Got the impression that my Mbox lowest latency was 256 on the G5 and 128 on the PC? Have not tried the 002R yet.. So... my advice... if you like beatiful, estetic things, get a G5. If you just want the job done, get a Allenstein, more bang for the buck. Other aspects like Logic... thats another story and wrong forum.. Best regards, Pelle Fridell

Karel, I am surprised you have no mentioning of the BBC computer (Acorn Atom or something like that) or the Sinclair computers (zx80, zx81, spectrum). They represent the best of British computer technology.
