With the v5.7 Reaper update (thanks for this work Justin et.al.), options are offered to make a multiple lane dynamic view ruler. But I'm having problems seeing how to control the options of the ruler, other than the normal options. When I right click the ruler, I noticed the new slideout ruler settings option there. But the option "Drag below the main toolbar to expand the ruler for more lanes" is grayed out for me, and the three bottom options - "Display tempo change", "Display time signature changes" and "Display tempo and times signature changes in separate lanes" - does not cause any visible change at all for me. I'm getting a feeling something is wrong here, and that this is the reason I can't figure out how to utilize the new ruler options. Anyone else recognize this, or does things react differently for you? How is this supposed to work?

Its gray becasue its not an actual option, its just info telling you that you can drag the area under the main toolbar to change the height. You may not see any change unless you make the ruler taller. There is also a new option to allow adjusting ruler height, as shown as last option in this image,

Thx, Egdemeal. Your suggestions loosened things up for me a bit. However, it doesn't seem to me that resizing your toolbar/ruler adds any new ruler lanes either. (looking at your gif). The update specification () says you can expand the ruler to show multiple lanes. That, to me, means something different than what we've all had for many years, which is time and musical bars together on 1 ruler - no matter how small the ruler is. The new option in 5.7 - 'allow expanding the ruler to display multiple lanes' - ought to mean something different than that. I envisioned you could have multiple rulers, maybe even detached from each other, showing different values, beyond the classic beats/time combo. Maybe I'm dreaming :p The news also mentions being able to show time signature, tempo change etc in separate lanes. I've already had those in separate lanes for as long as I can remember. We've all had it like that. So in v5.7, what is it that new in this regard? Also I do not understand the how to enable the "Display time/tempo changes more like a ruler, less like markers". (not all directed to Edgmeal, but anyone who cares to respond)

Lanes are added to the tempo marker, marker and region area of the ruler depending on its height but not to the timeline area at the bottom. It was not possible to have tempo and time signature changes (nor markers and regions) in different lines like this before.
