This is probably an extraordinarily stupid question, but, this is my first time using Pro Tools so here it goes. I am recording in audio via a mixer thru an MBOX and whenever I tell it to use stereo it saves down in 2 seperate .wav or .aiff files. Is there a way to make it save these as 1 fully stereo file?

Stereo by definition is two files, one left and one right. You can Bounce to disc or export selected as files(both described in the free pdf manual available for download form the supoort section) to a stereo file for burning to CD or converting to MP3.

I will give it a shot when I get into my office tonight and see what happens, I appreciate the help and the tolerance for my minor league question.

there is also such a thing called a stereo interleaved file, which Protools can bounce to, but not import.

Where you looking for ANOTHER argument about this inane subject? protools splits the frikkin file upon import, regardless of how it "together" it appears in the audio window. bounces for reimport should be multiple mono, not interleaved (its more efficient) to the original poster, you can bounce or export to an interleaved file, the option appears in the dialog window when you select either of these functions. You stated "there is also such a thing called a stereo interleaved file, which Protools can bounce to, but not import. " Whether Protools splits the file to mono or not is not the issue, a stereo interleaved file can be imported them into Protools, and your statement is incorrect.
