FF800 here. I use it for mixing, recording, live recording and live mixing. Soundwise it simply stays out of the way, inputs or outputs, mic or line, doesn't matter. Well built hardware and rock solid drivers. A great device. If you can get one, grab it. Just make sure to have TI firewire.

FF800 here as well and more than happy I got it. Not only is it reliable and transparent but it is fantastic as a means of connecting multiple other preamps (I also have connected to the FF800 2 x Presonus Digimax FS and a DBX 376).

Remember that the 8Pre was originally designed as an 'expander' to put additional channels onto other interfaces via adat, not as a primary interface.
