Quietist V40 Tyres

Hi there, My 02 V40 T40 is really loud on the motorway. I guess some of this is wind blast which I can do nothing about. I've read a few reviews and threads. Can anyone let me know what they think the quietist tyres are for my car? Will I really notice the difference? Currently I have Sumitomo HTRZ IIs at the rear and Pirelli P6000s at the front. Thanks! Hi Andy, block tread tyres like P6000's are notorious for road noise on Volvo's. have a quick search around on the forum for tyres and there are a load of threads that can answer this for you. in short, the best tyre for Vovlo's seem to be directional non-block patterns. the most popular is probably the Good Year Eagle F1 GSD3. I've also have Vredestein Sportrac 3 and Toyo Proxes T1-S. hope this helps Naz

Thanks, I have read a few posts and not all agree with eachother. One post that said that the F1s were noisier than the Michelin Pilot Sports? Post is 'road surface noise'.... My P6000s are on the front tyres so would probably be more significant than the rear tyres for noise? I guess there isn't much I can do about the windblast noise I get on the motorway? Cheers, Andy

i've never had pilot sport's myself so i cant compare, but against the P6000's (i used to have) the F1's are a great improvement. also, make sure you get the right typre pressure, you'll be amazed how that can also make a difference to road noise. good luck with whatever you decide.
