i have a single 800 mhz processor and i am getting (-9132) bounce handler cannot keep up, (-9129) audio processing conflict with other cpu task lower hw buffer size. then when i lower the buffersize i get messages telling me to up the buffer. i also run reason or reason adapted for digidesign with my recorded tracks. i am also getting a dea error about my drive not being fast enough. the drive is a 120gig 7200rpm seagate that is the slave drive. if any one can tell me what i can do or if it looks like it is the processor please let me know. i am looking into a single 2 Ghz processor or a dual 1.8 Ghz which one would be best to get? thanks, john
ATA cannot access two devices simultaniously on the same bus. Moving your recording or boot drive to a PCI card would boost performance. If you're running OSX I would go for a slower dual over a fast single. Buffer errors could also be RAM related. How much do you have?
ATA cannot access two devices simultaniously on the same bus. do you mean a mbox and a scaner and a printer etc? also what do you mean about the PCI card and moving my boot disk to it. i am running OSX so a dule would be optimal thanks for that. and as for ram i am maxed out at 1.5 gigs.
M-Box, scanner, printer are USB not ATA. USB does use the CPU though so I would unplug any unused USB devices when running PT. Even if the devices are not being used the system will still scan the bus for devices which eats up CPU. Adding a PCI host card (ATA or SATA) will alow you to run each hard drive on it's own bus which will give you a nice overall performance boost. It's good that you have plenty of RAM, but you might want to test it with a good app like Memtest to make sure it's all good. Bad RAM is more common than most people think, and can cause all sorts of problems. QS seem to have an unusually high number of logic board failures. I think a lot of 'em could be RAM, and/or heat related since the QS have a poor case airflow design which tends to draw heated exhaust air back into the case. Something to be aware of when upgrading internal components.

hi thanks for all the help. i have one more question. what type of pci card would you suggest? i have found that they run a large price range. would something like this work? thanks, john
