In the distant past i used Slick 50 on a 340gl and found it pretty good but i saw the link for and wondered if anyone has any thoughts? I don't have any major problems but it all helps and anything that prevents wear is a good thing...... isn't it?
This thread may be of interest to you: *EDIT* Hmm, that's not the thread I was thinking of. Who's moved/deleted the long thread on AMETECH ENGINE RESTORE???? The member's username was enginerestore. all bar 2 of his posts have gone.
Don't even consider it. Would you really want to pour a can of swarf into your engine? The claims made for that product are simply ridiculous. "Engine Destroyer" would be more like it.
I've followed this subject on and off now for a while and I've noticed that no one on either side can produce a person who will stand up and say "I've used the product and ***** (good or bad) happened to my engine. My instinctive reaction is that it cannot be all it says it is - but if it does not do what it says AND it destroys engines who has suffered this and what are they doing about it?
A classic tirade, if I may say so and how nice to see someone 'speak' their mind in an unpolitically correct manner without fear or favour..I thought the art was dead...thank goodness its not. Whether the product concerned is good or bad I have no idea but I enjoyed the post enormously ..thanks Pidgeon.....

Forum; I have no experience with this product...personally I place it in the same snake-oil catagory as the cooling system "wetters" (surfactants which are supposed to improve wetting in the cooling system and thereby increase cooling)...I figure if Volvo didn't design the cars to require them (after undoubtably having spent thousands of hours in the engine development depatrment on the dyne) they don't need it. They MAY help, but how many hours have their developers or sellers put in on the dyne to get quantitative data...and analyse unintended consequences...certainly not as many as the factory... and even if these products didn't exist back then...no thanks! Cheers
